Backflow testing FAQs

Questions about backflow testing

Questions Carrizozo, NM property owners ask about backflow testing and backflow prevention.

Talk to a person
What happens if I miss the backflow test deadline?
Utilities usually send a second notice, and after that some add a fee or schedule a service shutoff. Calling (833) 990-5874 before the deadline is the simplest way to avoid it.
Why is water dripping from my RPZ relief valve?
A steady drip usually means debris is holding the first check open or the relief valve diaphragm is worn. A cleaning or a rebuild kit fixes most cases.
Will my water be off during the test?
Yes, briefly. The tester closes the shutoff valves on the assembly while reading the checks, so water downstream of the device is off until the test is done.
How much does backflow testing cost in Carrizozo, NM?
Pricing depends on device type, size and the local market. Call (833) 990-5874 for current pricing on backflow testing in Carrizozo, NM.
Can a backflow preventer be repaired instead of replaced?
Often it can. Rebuild kits with new discs, springs and seals are sold for most brands. Replacement makes more sense when the body is cracked or parts are no longer made.
